Distillery waste which is black
in color, very abnoxious smell
wise and has high chemical oxygen
demand(COD) has been cleaned using
cemicals and solar energy. A pilot
plant has been set up which can
clean 200 liters of diluted
distillery waste in two days. The
chemical can be recycled and the
waste water has 90% transmittance
and hence is fit for discharge in
waterways. Initial experiments
with the pulp paper effluent has
yielded excellent results. NARI
can transfer this technology to
distilleries.
