The research program The basic philosophy of the Institute is to solve the age old problems of rural India with the use of modern science and technology. Consequently, very innovative research and development programs have been undertaken. NARI has pioneered the concept of using sophisticated technologies like nanotechnology and biotechnology for rural development. This novel concept is now being proposed by many institutions world over. Till 2004 about 85 funded projects with total funding of Rs. 50 million have been undertaken. Project results are published as research papers in national and international journals.
Presently the areas of R&D are agriculture, renewable energy, animal husbandry and holistic development.
