Areas of Research

The basic philosophy of the Institute is to solve the age old problems of rural India through the application of science and technology. Consequently, highly innovative research and development programs have been undertaken in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy, animal husbandry and sustainable development. NARI has pioneered the concept of using technologies, such as gasification, distillation, combined lighting and cooking stoves, and many others for rural applications. Such concepts are now being considered by many institutions worldwide. As of 2012, 106 projects have been undertaken at NARI with total funding of Rs. 100 million.
